Port Berth + Apron + Wharf Designer
Size a marine berth for a design vessel. Enter the ship's LOA, beam and draft, the berth & basin rules, and the water-depth allowances — the app finds the berth-face length, the required water depth, the turning-basin diameter, a typical apron/wharf width for the cargo, and the fender/berthing energy, with a plan sketch of the vessel alongside.
① Design vessel
Use the design vessel — the largest ship the berth must accept. Displacement is only needed for the berthing-energy (fender) check in card ④.
② Berth & basin
Clearance per end = max(min clearance, % × LOA). For a single berth, length = LOA + 2 × clearance; for several berths, each ship gets clearance on both sides.
③ Water depth
UKC = max(min UKC, % × draft). The depth below water level = draft + UKC. If soundings are referenced to chart datum (LAT), add the tidal range to get the depth below datum.
④ Berthing energy — optional
Berthing (fender) energy E = ½·M·V²·Cm·Ce·Cs, with M the displacement (tonnes) from card ①. Computed only when a displacement is given.
